Four foreign hikers from a group of six who went missing in Valencia, Negros Oriental were found on Saturday morning, police said Sunday.
In a phone interview with Daily Manila Shimbun, Valencia Municipal Police Office Patrolman Henry Japay said that the four hikers were found by Army rescuers in the vicinity of a hydropower plant in Barangay Silab, Amlan.
The four were identified as Aldwin Fink, 60, and Wolfang Shlenker, 67, both Germans; Russian Anton Chenov, 38, and Canadian Terry de Gunten, 50.
“The rains were heavy and visibility was low. (Cellphone) Signal isn't that good in the area too, so they must have gotten lost along the way,” Japay said.
The six hikers were initially on the way to Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park in Sibulan, Negros Oriental on the morning of March 19 when they went missing.
The injuries of four hikers were treated at a local health center. Yzabela Velez-White/DMS
