Ebrahim leaves BTA post to run in Bangasamoro Parliamentary Elections: Palace

Former Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim resigned from to focus on his bid in the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections later this year, the Palace said Tuesday.

Palace Press Officer and Undersecretary Claire Castro said Ebrahim's resignation was not connected to the investigation of the House of Representatives on the alleged misuse of P6.4 billion Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

"This (investigation) has nothing to do with the replacement of the Interim Chief Minister because Sir Ebrahim himself said that he will resign to concentrate on the BARMM Parliamentary elections," Castro said.

The BARMM parliamentary polls was reset from May 12 to October 13, 2025.

Following Ebrahim's resignation, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, named Maguindanao del Norte governor Abdulraof Macacua as interim head of BARMM.

Last Monday, members of the House of Representatives (HOR) called on the Commission on Audit (COA) to conduct an audit on the use of the P6.4 billion-LGSF.

Assistant Majority Leader and Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong claimed the fund was misused when it was used to distribute P500,000 to P2.5 million to 400 barangays in Lanao del Sur.

Castro said the Palace respects the hearings being conducted by the House.

"We respect that because it is their duty to conduct a hearing and it is also related to their oversight function. So, what is being investigated there really deserves attention and what needs to be corrected," she said. DMS
