The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conducted a rotation and resupply (RORE) mission to BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal for the sixth time since a Filipino sailor lost his thumb due to Chinese harassment last June 17, 2024.
Col. Xerxes Trinidad, AFP public affairs office chief, said the RORE mission using M/V Lapu-Lapu on Tuesday "was executed in close coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard and was completed with no untoward incident."
The AFP said five other RORE's that were conducted without any untoward incident were done on July 27, 2024 followed by September 26, November 14, December 12 and January 24.
"The completion of this mission reaffirms the AFP’s commitment not only to supporting our defenders in the West Philippine Sea (WPS), but more importantly to upholding the Philippines’ sovereignty and sovereign rights not only for today’s generation but for those to come," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
