Crime rate down by 18.42 percent from January to March

Crime volume nationwide went down by at least 18 percent, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported Wednesday.

Data released by the PNP showed there were 7,301 focus crimes from Jan. 12 to March 22, 2025.

The figure is lower by 18.42 percent when compared to 8,950 incidents documented from Nov. 3, 2024 to Jan. 11, 2025.

Focus crimes are theft, robbery, rape, murder, homicide, physical injury, car theft and motorcycle theft.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said the top three regions where crimes decreased are Metro Manila, Calabarzon and Central Visayas.

Significant reductions were recorded in three crime categories, including physical injury which went down by 33.83 percent from 1,002 cases to 663 incidents.

Homicide went down by 23.86 percent to 1,021 from 1,341, while murder decreased from 1,535 to 1,243, a drop of 19.02 percent. DMS
