A Filipino fisherman recovered an alleged submersible drone off the coast of Pangasinan in the West Philippine Sea last Wednesday, a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) official reported on Friday.
In his X (formerly Twitter) account, Commodore Jay Tarriela, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesman for the West Philippine Sea, said the orange object believed to be an underwater drone was spotted by the Filipino fishermen while conducting fishing activities at approximately 149 nautical miles northwest off Bolinao, Pangasinan.
"The suspected underwater drone measures approximately 160 centimeters in length, 20 inches in width, and weighs around 100 kilograms," he said.
"Upon returning to port, the fishermen reported their sighting to the Coast Guard Substation Infanta, Pangasinan and submitted a notarized affidavit detailing their discovery," he added
Tarriela said "the alleged underwater drone was surrendered to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and analysis." Robina Asido/DMS
