PALAWAN--Two Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) vessels shadowed Atin Ito Coalition's civilian vessel as it heads to the vicinity of Pag-asa Island in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) to hold its "Peace and Solidarity Concert" on Wednesday.
The shadowing occured around 8 am on Tuesday when CCG 3306 was spotted three nautical miles away from T/S Kapitan Felix Oca was five nautical miles away, the coalition said.
Two Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessels namely, BRP Melchora Aquino (MRRV 5702) and BRP Malapascua (MRRV 4403) were deployed to escort T/S Felix Oca.
A radio challenge were also exchanged between BRP Melchora Aquino and CCG 3306 around the same time.
As of 5 pm, CCG 3306 is 4.28 nautical miles away on the right side of the civilian vessel while CCG 21549 is 4.60 nautical miles away on the rear left side.
Atin Ito Coalition Convener Rafaela David said that the concert within the vicinity of Pag-asa island is expected to take place around 12 pm to 2 pm on Wednesday. Marie Manalili/DMS
