MoveIt files motion against fleet cap, scaling down operations in Cebu & Cagayan de Oro

Motorcycle taxi company Move It filed a supplementary motion to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to act on their appeal on the board’s orders for the company to cease operations in Cebu and Cagayan de Oro and to scale down its fleet.

In an ambush interview Thursday, Move It General Manager Wayne Jacinto said that their company filed the supplementary motion to question LTFRB’s order.

“We’re questioning the process on how they were able to release such an order. That’s the content of what we filed. How were they able to release an order without us seeing the signature of other technical working group (TWG) members on the order,” Jacinto said.

The supplementary motion comes after the motorcycle taxi company’s initial filing of a motion for reconsideration in April.

LTFRB spokesperson Ariel Inton in a statement on Saturday assured that Move It riders can still work for the board would not yet implement its plan to reduce the firm’s fleet.

“The regulation of motorcycle taxis is still under a TWG that is multi-agency,” Inton said.

“Rest assured, the directive of (Transportation) Secretary Vince Dizon is ‘status quo’. The motion for reconsideration by Move It will be studied by the TWG, so riders can still work” Inton added.

The LTFRB order previously ordered the removal of 14,000 MoveIt units and halted the pilot run of the motorcycle taxi service in Cebu and Cagayan de Oro. Yzabela Velez-White/DMS
