The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) welcomed the appointment of bank executive and digital technocrat Henry Rhoel Aguda as its new secretary.
Assistant Information and Communications Technology Renato Paraiso said: '' With Secretary Aguda’s expertise and vision, we are poised to bring our shared aspiration of a Bayang Digital ang Bagong Pilipinas closer to reality”.
Aguda replaced Ivan John Uy as secretary, who resigned last March 7.
As the digital infrastructure lead of the Private Sector Advisory Council, Paraiso said Aguda played a pivotal role in providing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. with strategies and innovative initiatives to strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure.
Paraiso also took note of Aguda’s track record in the banking industry and deep expertise in technology and digital transformation.
“Under his leadership, we reaffirm that digitalization, connectivity, digital inclusion, and cybersecurity will remain central to our national priorities,” Paraiso said.
The National Privacy Commission said it is ready to work with Aguda. DMS
