A magnitude 4.9 earthquake occured in the waters of Masbate province on Saturday morning.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) monitored the epicenter of the tremor at 28 kilometers southwest of Claveria at 8:28 am.
Phivolcs noted that no damage and aftershocks are expected from the off shore quake that is tectonic in origin and has a depth of 18 km.
However, Intensity IV was felt over Claveria and San Pascual in Masbate; Pilar and Donsol in Sorsogon; Intensity III in the City of Masbate, Masbate province; and Legazpi in Albay.
Intensity II was also reported in Irosin, Sorsogon and Baleno in Masbate and Intensity I over Batuan in the same province; Santa Magdalena and Bulusan in Sorsogon and Tabaco, Malinao, and Tiwi in Albay.
Instrumental Intensity III was also recorded over the city of Masbate in Masbate; City of Legazpi in Albay; Intensity II in Tabaco, Albay and Milagros in Masbate.
