Cash remittances to the Philippines continued to grow in June of this year, with remittances from land-based overseas Filipinos (OFs) increasing faster than funds from sea-based workers.
These remittances rose from $2.88 billion in June 2024 to $2.99 billion in June 2025, marking a 3.7 percent increase.
Of that figure, land-based OFs accounted for the much bigger share of $2.43 billion (up 3.7 percent year-on-year), while the sea-based OFs accounted for the smaller share of $555 million (up 3.5 percent).
In January-June 2025, cumulative cash remittances rose by 3.1 percent from $16.25 billion registered in January-June 2024 to $16.75 billion.
The increase in cash remittances drove an increase in personal remittances as well. Personal remittances include cash sent through banks and informal channels as well as remittances in kind.
Personal remittances grew from $3.21 billion in June 2024 to $3.33 billion in June 2025, reflecting a 3.7 percent increase.
Cumulative personal remittances marked a 3.1 percent increase from $18.10 billion recorded in January-June 2024 to $18.67 billion in January-June 2025. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas
