At least 31 dead from three storms, southwest monsoon: NDDRMC

The combined effect of tropical cyclones ''Crising'', ''Dante'' and ''Emong'' which enhanced the southwest monsoon left 31 people dead and sevenmissing, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Monday.

Metro Manila recorded the most number of casualties with nine, followed by six in Western Visayas and five in Calabarzon.

The damage to infrastructure also rose to P6,500,351,557.34 while the number of affected houses is at 15, 039.

In its latest data, the Department of Agriculture (DA) recorded damage of P1.84 billion affecting 59,749 farmers and fisherfolk with volume of production loss at 43,689 metric tons.

The data shows that rice remain the highest affected agricultural product with 53.93 percent amounting to 990.34 million followed by fisheries at 28.13 percent (516.57 million) and high value crops of 12.21 percent (224.13 million).

The NDRRMC recorded a total of 1,751,776 families or 6,276,280 persons affected. Of which, 36,660 families or 122,716 persons were served inside 1,419 evacuation centers.
