At least two tropical cyclones are expected this month, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported on Tuesday.

Pagasa weather specialists Obet Badrina and Ana Clauren-Jorda, during the morning and afternoon forecasts, said two to three low-pressure areas (LPAs) are expected to become tropical cyclones this month.

Once formed, these tropical cyclones will be named Bising, Crising, and Dante based on the first set of Philippine tropical cyclone list of names of Pagasa.

Auring, the first tropical cyclone of the Philippines this year, entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on June 12 and left the country on June 13.

Two LPAs are being monitored based on the 5:00 pm forecast.

The LPA in the Philippine Area of Responsibility located 350 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora has a medium chance of being a tropical cyclone within 24 hours.

This LPA will produce cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms in Cagayan Valley. It contributes to the Southwest Monsoon, which is affecting Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Despite its high chance of being a tropical cyclone, the LPA located 2,725 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, is not expected to enter the PAR and has no direct effect on any parts of the country. Kate Christian Ravelo/DMS
