Low pressure area, southwest monsoon causing widespread rains

2025/6/24 英字

A low pressure area (LPA) in the Philippine Area of Responsibility and the southwest monsoon will bring rains and thunderstorms to the Philippines tomorrow, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Monday.

In the latest weather forecast, Pagasa Weather Specialist Rhea Torres stated that a low-pressure area is monitored 175 kilometers southwest of Iba, Zambales, which has a low chance of turning into a tropical depression.

The low pressure area will produce cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Western sections of Central Luzon, particularly in Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan provinces.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Negros Occidental, and the rest of Central Luzon will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms not due to southwest monsoon.

Torres stated that a high chance of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms is expected to fall over the rest of the country. However, rain showers are also expected to subside tomorrow. Kate Christian Ravelo/DMS
