Over 100 Filipinos in Israel seeking repatriation: DMW

2025/6/18 英字

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said that over 100 Filipinos in Israel are seeking repatriation amidst ongoing conflict between the conflict of Israel and Iran.

In a radio interview, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said they are monitoring the situation in Israel to plan for the repatriation of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) on their list while Israeli airspace remains closed.

"The air space and airports are currently closed. Hopefully, we would have the opportunity for repatriation once there would be an opening of air space," Cacdac said.

Eighty five of the 109 Filipinos signified their intention to return to the Philippines before Israel conducted air strikes in military facilities in Iran last Friday, while 25 asked to be listed for repatriation in the previous days after Iran's first wave of missiles that hit Israel cities over the weekend.

Cacdac also said that the department was looking into ways to bring the Filipinos requesting for repatriation to a safe space before they are brought back to the Philippines. Velle White/DMS
