After tagging President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., former Congressman Zaldy Co also linked House Majority Leader Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos in the alleged anomalous budget insertions which were described by the presidential son as "fantastical" which aims to "destabilize the government".
In his latest video message, Co claimed that aside from the president, his son also inserted projects every year since 2023.
"Not only does the president has insertions in the budget, Congressman Sandro Marcos also inserted (projects) every year. In 2023 there was P9.636 billion (worth of project insertions), in 2024 (it was) P20.174 billion, and this 2025 is P21.127 billion pesos, the total was P50.938 billion pesos," he said.
"Every year whenever there were (bicameral conference committee) bicam budget process, Congressman Sandro (Marcos) always ordered the insertions of his projects," he added.
Following last week's sudden resignation of former Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman and Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin after their names were dragged into the flood control mess, Co noted that if the insertions was not really ordered by the president, the dismissals of Pangandaman and Bersamin should have been done right after he wrote a confidential letter to the Marcos informing him about the P100 billion insertions to the 2025 national budget on February.
Co also noted that he personally talked with the President in a meeting arranged by the Department of Justice Undersecretary Jose "Jojo" Cadiz Jr. in March.
"Instead of denying or clarifying the P100 billion insertions... he (President Marcos) directly told me 'do not stop my insertions, do not interfere with the budget," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
