Thirteen areas in Luzon remained under signal number one even after Super Typhoon ''Nando'' left the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday.
However, a tropical depression which was given the name ''Opong'' entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said ''Opong'' was located 1,045 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao.
Pagasa said ''Opong'' is expected to become a severe tropical storm Thursday afternoon and cross Southern Luzon area Friday evening or Saturday morning
As of 5 pm, ''Nando'' with maximum sustained winds of 185kph and gustiness of up to 239 kph was last spotted at 540km west of Basco, Batanes while moving northwestward at the speed of 20 kph.
Tropical cyclone wind signal number 1 is still up over the areas of Batanes, Cagayan, the northern portion of Isabela (San Manuel, Roxas, Mallig, Quezon, Santa Maria, Cabagan, Santo Tomas, Delfin Albano, Quirino, Tumauini, San Pablo, Maconacon), Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and the northwestern portion of Pangasinan (Bolinao, Anda, Agno, Dasol, Sual, Burgos, City of Alaminos, Bani, Mabini).
