At least five were reported dead while seven were missing due to rains from the southwest monsoon enhanced by Severe Tropical Storm ''Crising'', the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.

The NDRRMC confirmed the death of the two victims (one from Northern Mindanao and another one Caraga) while the death of the three others (two from Northern Mindanao and one from Davao Region) are still subject for validation.

As of Monday, the damage and losses in rice, corn, high value crops, and livestock and poultry reached P96.90 million affecting 4,665 farmers, with volume of production loss at 2,236 metric tons and 6,037 hectares of agricultural areas.

According to the Department of Agriculture 97. 17 percent, amounting to 94.16 million losses were recorded due to damage to 2,178 metric tons of rice crops.

Damage to infrastructure in Ilocos and in Western Visayas regions now reached P219,370,214.38 while a total of 1,234 houses were damaged due to the weather disturbance.

The council recorded a total of 225,985 families or 800,864 persons affected because of the bad weather condition, of which 5,921 families or 20,115 persons were displaced and being served within the 319 evacuation centers while 16,672 families or 70,720 persons were outside the evacuation centers.

A total of 45 road sections and seven bridges were not passable while 23 cities and municipalities are experiencing power interruption.

The PCG monitored 230 passengers, truck driver and cargo helpers as well as 91 rolling cargoes and 12 vessels stranded in 18 ports within the National Capital Region, Southern Tagalog, Palawan, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas and Bicol regions.

It also recorded 21 vessels and 54 motorbancas that are taking shelter in the affected regions. Robina Asido/DMS
