Eight Filipino crew members of the ill-fated M/V Eternity C attacked by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea arrived in the Philippines on Wednesday night.
It was announced by Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro in a Palace briefing on Thursday.
"According to Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac, the eight Filipino seafarers who were attacked by the Houthi rebel group arrived at Jizan Port in Saudi Arabia last July 7 and 8," she said.
"Before they arrived in the country, the seafarers already received assistance from Migrant Workers Office (MWO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia ? it is based on the instruction of the President (Ferdinand) Marcos Jr.," she added.
Castro said the seafarers will also received financial assistance from AKSYON (Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFW na Nangangailangan) Fund of Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Emergency Repatriation Fund of OWWA, and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and medical care of Department of Health (DOH).
"They will also receive assistance from NNIC (New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation) under the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and other assistance from the national reintegration network as they start their career again in the Philippines," she said.
