Two Chinese nationals were arrested as suspects after a shooting incident in Makati on Thursday night.
Based on an initial police report, a 40-year-old Filipino in a sport utility vehicle (SUV) was getting ready to exit the parking lot of a mall along Amorsolo Street in Barangay Pio Del Pillar when one of the suspects shot at the victim's vehicle.
The victim was safe, but his SUV sustained four visible bullet holes on the rear passenger window, front passenger door, and frame of the right door, police said.
The suspects were identified as alias Liquan, 44, and alias Xunjun, 36, police added.
Xunjun had a previous record related to a kidnapping for ransom incident last October 2023 in Pasay City, whose victim is a Vietnamese national, based on the Investigation and Detective Management Section (IDMS) of Makati Police.
Operatives from the Southern Police District (SPD) recovered a 0.40 caliber pistol, a 9mm submachine gun, knives, a hammer, cellular phones, and other items from the suspects.
Authorities also recovered a green Toyota Vios owned by the suspects with mismatched plates, which, according to them, indicated an intent to hide its identity.
Makati Police Public Information Officer (PIO) Capt. Jenibeth Artista said they are coordinating with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to identify the owners of the plates.
The suspects will face charges for attempted murder and a violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, to be filed by the investigator before authorities for legal proceedings. Kate Christian Ravelo/DMS
