Bus hits road barriers along EDSA

2025/6/23 英字

A provincial bus barrelled through road barriers and signages along EDSA Sunday morning.

In a phone interview with the Daily Manila Shimbun, Master Sergeant Rickymel Corpus of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Traffic Bureau of Mandaluyong said the provincial bus owned by Five Star Bus Company overtook a private vehicle.

The driver overlooked the barriers, which led to the accident, based on the initial investigation.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Communication Equipment Operator III Marites Ignacio told the Daily Manila Shimbun that the bus hit four concrete and two plastic barriers, as well as one road signage.

Ignacio said the incident caused heavy traffic from Mandaluyong to Guadalupe for more than an hour.

The bus was removed from the accident site by 7:45 am and turned over to the Mandaluyong Traffic Bureau for investigation.

A ticket was issued to the driver by the MMDA. The PNP Traffic Bureau of Mandaluyong will send a request to the MMDA Engineering Office Monday to assess the cost of damage to be settled by the bus company. Kate Christian Ravelo/DMS
