In a chance interview, Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Partylist Rep.-elect Leila De Lima called on the Senate to convene as an impeachment court "whether or not it (impeachment trial) will finish on June 30".

"The preliminaries can be done before the onset of the next Congress until June 30. But there is no impediment at all, legal or constitutional, so that it cannot cross over to the next Congress", De Lima said.

"We want the impeachment to begin now", Kiko Aquino Dee of Tindig Pilipinas said.

As of 11 am, around 1,945 individuals attended the protest, Col.Joselito De Sesto, acting Pasay City police chief said.

The protest began with the protestors marching towards the Senate building and was followed by an ecumenical gathering. The rallies are expected to end by Wednesday.

It was led by De Lima, Dee, Father Flavie Villanueva, Fr. Joel Saballa, and representatives of the impeachment cases against Duterte.

Also among the attendees were from Tindig Pilipinas, Akbayan Party, Magdalo Party, , representatives of the third impeachment case, EveryWoman, August Twenty One Movement (ATOM), and leaders from SIKLAB, the Nagkaisa Labor Coalition, Kalipunan, the Student Council Alliance of the Philippines (SCAP), ASAP, and Akbayan Youth.
