Senator Imee Marcos claimed on Friday that her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was no longer in control of the government.
"The government is no longer Marcos. The government is now under Romualdez and Araneta," Marcos alleged in a political campaign posted on her Facebook page, referencing to her cousin, House Speaker Martin Romualdez and sister-in-law First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
The senator said that a true Marcos would not form alliances with politicians who mistreated her family.
Marcos listed imported rice and imported justice - referencing the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) - as reasons why the government was no longer led by her brother.
"Rice is imported. Even justice is imported. It is clear that this is not a Marcos government, " she said.
Marcos and her brother have had conflicting stances regarding the March 11 arrest and eventual surrender of former President Duterte to the ICC where he faces allegations of crimes against humanity over his administration's war on drugs.
She launched a Senate inquiry last month into Duterte's arrest last March. She filed a complaint against top government officials at the Ombudsman over what she alleged was improper handover of ex-President Duterte to the International Criminal Court. Yzabela G. Velez-White/DMS
