Armed men killed the election officer of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao and her husband Wednesday, three days before the start of the campaign for local posts in the May midterm elections.

Lawyer Maceda Abo and her husband Jojo were on board their sport utility vehicle when they were attacked round 8:22 a.m.

They were travelling along the Cotabato-Shariff Aguak Road when unidentified men opened fire at their vehicle in Barangay Makir, police said.

Abo’s husband, the driver of the vehicle, died on the spot, while she was brought to a hospital where she succumbed from her injuries.

Municipal Mayor Datu Lester Sinsuat urged witnesses to come forward and report to the authorities. DMS
