Three people, including two senior citizens, died while at least two were injured in a fire that hit six houses in Barangay 58, Zone 5, District 1 in Tondo on Thursday.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze began 1:22 pm, hit second alarm at 1:28 before it was declared fire out at 3:23 pm.
The senior citizens were aged 70 and 78 years old while the other fatality was a 45-year-old man, an initial report from the BFP said.
Two injured persons were fire volunteers who suffered abrasion and lacerated wounds.
A 20-year-old man lost consciousness while another fire volunteer had difficulty breathing.
The fire started on the second floor of a two-story residential house and damaged another five houses, affecting 18 families and 54 individuals.
