Forty-five percent of Filipinos opposed the Senate impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, according to a non-commissioned Pulse Asia survey on Friday.
The Pulse Asia survey found that 26 percent supported the impeachment while 23 percent were undecided. Seven percent were unable to state an opinion due insufficient knowledge.
The survey, which was done on 2,400 registered voters chosen through random sampling, was done from February 20 to 26, around two weeks after the House of Representatives impeached Duterte.
This contrasted with a survey done by Social Weather Stations in the fourth quarter of 2024 and released on Jan. 8, 2025 where 41 percent backed her impeachment.
Most individuals who supported the impeachment of Duterte were in Metro Manila at 45 percent, the rest of Luzon at 34 percent, 23 percent in Visayas, and four percent in Mindanao.
Those who opposed Duterte's impeachment were the highest in Mindanao at 88 percent, followed by Visayas at 46 percent, Metro Manila at 33 percent, and the rest of Luzon at 24 percent.
In the socio-economic subgroupings, support was highest at 32 percent among class ABC, while the opposition in the impeachment complaint was the highest in class E at 56 percent.
The SWS survey also showed that 35 percent opposed Duterte's impeachment while 19 percent were undecided. Marie Manalili/DMS
