With 32 areas in the "red category", newly-appointed Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua Thursday said they will not oppose the possibility of some being placed under the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
In a press briefing after meeting Comelec Chairman George Garcia, Macacua said: ''To us, if the Comelec and the security sector will recommend it (Comelec Control), because they are also familiar with the situation there, we have no objection."
"We also have no objection if they will deploy some (more) security personnel in the area," he added.
Based on the initial list released by the Comelec in January, there are a total of 38 areas under "red category", with 32 in the BARMM.
"We are now preparing for ways on how we can prevent any untoward situations that will distract the smooth (conduct of) elections," said Macacua.
He said the peace and order situation in Bangsamoro is "under control". DMS
