A presidential task force said no journalists died last year, citing the government's collaborating with stakeholders.
"The absence of journalist killings in 2024, as reported, is a testament to the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, media organizations, and civil society, in promoting a safer environment for the press," the Presidential Task Force on Media Security said in a statement last Monday.
It said it was able to monitor 195 reported media killings from 1986 to June 2023.
The task force said it will continue to intensify its efforts in preventing any threats to media practitioners. DMS
