Police anti-narcotics operatives seized 45 kilos of shabu worth P225 million and captured four people in a raid at a residential house in Quezon City Tuesday afternoon.

The operation left Philippine National Police Director General Rolando Dela Rosa insisting that the death penalty must be reimposed to deter drug trafficking.

"We really need a death penalty law," Dela Rosa said in an interview with reporters, lamenting members of drug syndicates are still carrying big amounts of prohibited narcotics despite their intensified drive where close to 5,000 suspects have died.

The operation took place at a two-storey house along Banawe street in Barangay Manresa.

The shabu is worth P5 million per kilo were confiscated, national police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos said.

"Two Filipinos and two Filipinas were arrested," he said in a text message to reporters.

They are Eduardo Dario, 62, John Rey Bungcasan, 34 Rhea May Libira, 20, and Gemma Rose Codera, 26.

Police also seized 27 packs of activated carbon, two weighing scales and one Mitsubishi Fusion vehicle.

Police are pursuing the alleged supplier, a certain Charlie.

The four suspects were brought to the AIDG head office in Camp Crame for further investigation. They are facing cases for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Emmanuel Tupas/DMS
