The construction of the burial site for late President Ferdinand Marcos at Libingan ng mga Bayani is 60 percent complete, an Army official said Tuesday.

“The preparations being done by the Philippine Army are continues. Right now 60 percent was already completed, meaning a lot of things is still have to be done,” Col. Benjamin Hao, Philippine Army spokesman said.

He said the private contractor hired by the Marcos family is cementing and tailing the 10 meters by ten meters area for the late president.

“The last thing that I heard was they are cementing and putting tiles,” he said.

“Of course, the Marcoses are the ones shouldering the cost,” he added.

Hao said the date of the burial of the former president was not sent to them.

He said Marcos will be the fourth president of the republic of the Philippines that will be buried at Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Others are President Carlos P. Garcia, President Elpidio Quirino and President Diosdado Macapagal.

Hao noted that Marcos is set to receive military honors given to other deceased Philippine president.

He said there will be “arrival honors for the former president, then after that there will a funeral march, and then a tribute program.”

Hao said there “will be a final benediction, then what we call the three volleys of fire and then taps and then the national flag will be folded it will be handed to the flag bearers up to the most senior officer president and then it will be given to the family member.”

He said this procedure is also done for other high profile leaders of our country that were buried at Libingan ng mga Bayani. Robina Asido/DMS
