2016/8/25 英字

Philippine state weather forecasters expect the La Nina phenomenon to be short, weakening around January or February 2017.

Analiza Solis, a senior weather speclalist, said a weak La Nina condition may develop in next few months. The weather bureau said there was a 55-60 percent chance La Nina will develop by September to October.

“We have started a La Nina watch since May and expected that it will weaken around January to February next year,” Solis said.

She warned the public to not underestimate a weak La Nina as rains could bring floods and landslides.

A typhoon with winds of 1560 kph and gusts of up to 185 kph entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility Wednesday afternoon. Forecasters said this ' could enhance the southwest monsoon but so far we don't expect heavy monsoon rains.” Ella Dionisio
