Four, including two bets in next week's elections, shot dead: police
Four people, including two running for positions in Monday's Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, were shot dead in separate incidents in Mindanao, police said.
Three people, including two who are running for barangay kagawad, and
two others were wounded after they were fired on by a group of men allegedly led by a candidate for barangay chairman in Cotabato City on Monday evening.
An incumbent kagawad who is running for barangay captain was gunned
down in Montevista, Davao de Oro on Monday. Police identified the victim as Alvin Garcia, a resident of Barangay Camantangan.
The victims were putting up campaign posters in Barangay Rosary Heights 12 in Cotabato City when they were attacked at around 9:35 p.m., police said.
Killed were Nur-Moqtadin Butucan, Alfar Singh Pasawiran, who are running for barangay kagawad, and Faisal Abas, who were pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital.
The 12 alleged gunmen, which reportedly included a police officer, were arrested in a follow-up operation. DMS
