Duterte planning to go to US to express thanks for vaccines
President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his interest in visiting the United States after more European brand COVID-19 vaccines arrived in the country.
"We have newly arrived vaccines, (Vaccine Czar) Secretary (Carlito) Galvez and (Health) Secretary (Francisco Duque) said that America gave five million? America is kind," Duterte said during his taped Talk To the People on Thursday night.
"Maybe I will go there just to thank the American government and the people ," he added.
Earlier on the same day a total of 1.2 doses of Moderna vaccines arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
During its arrival, Galvez said about 50 to 60 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, mostly from Moderna and Pfizer are expected to arrive in the fourth quarter. Robina Asido/DMS
