国境なき記者団（ＲＳＦ、本部・パリ）は2024年の報道の自由度ランキングを発表した。対象の180カ国・地域のうち、フィリピンは134位で、昨年からランクを二つ落とした。日本も昨年から二つランクを下げて70位となり、先進７カ国（Ｇ７）内で最下位。トップは北欧のノルウェーだった。
