New PMA commandant declares ''war on hazing''
The newly-installed Commandant of Cadets of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) declared "war on hazing".
"As the new Commandant of Cadets let me proclaim this, I am declaring a war on hazing. And I expect everyone under my jurisdiction, especially the Cadet Corps to tow the line," said Brig. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said as he assumed his post.
"If you are not willing to wage a war against hazing, then you better leave. There is no place for you in this organisation. And I mean business," he added.
Amid the death of a cadet due to alleged hazing and three hospitalized for signs of maltreatment, Brawner assures parents the PMA will take care of their children.
"To the parents of the cadets, this is what I have to say - do not worry because we will take care of your sons and daughters, whether they are plebes or upperclassmen," he said.
"But we will do more that just take care of them, we will mold them to become servant leaders, leaders who will serve God and Country first before serving themselves," added Brawner.
"Difficult is the task that is before us. But if we all work together for a common goal, the job will become easier. So together, let us declare a war against hazing," he added. Robina Asido/DMS
