PPCRV doing thorough validation of ERs after glitch on Comelec's transparency server - watchdog official
Election watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting ( PPCRV) said on Tuesday that their volunteers have been conducting thorough checking and comparison of election returns and number of votes on the transparency server to ensure there are no discrepancies.
This was after the seven-hour lull, from 6:05pm on Monday until 1:19am on Tuesday, on the dispatch of the unofficial results of the elections from almost 86,000 clustered precincts from the Commission on Elections' transparency server to PPCRV-Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas and other media organizations' servers.
In line with what happened on Monday night regarding the "long lull," the more reason that the voting public has to know what the PPCRV has been doing during elections, said Arwin Serrano, PPCRV board member.
So far, he said as of Tuesday afternoon, PPCRV has received 15 to 20 percent of the almost 86,000 ERs nationwide and these mostly came from Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
During the validation process of the ERs, he said there were only "small discrepancies" that have been noticed and these were mostly due to encoding.
If there were discrepancies, Serrano said that third and final validation is being conducted on the ERs and those reflected at the transparency server.
He said there are three shiftings among the volunteers per day to avoid any human error in the encoding of the election results.
PPCRV-KBP is authorized to get the fourth copy of the ERs from the precincts.
Serrano said they hope to receive more than 50 percent of the copy of the ERs from various precincts, including those from Visayas and Mindanao on Wednesday and until most, if not all of the ERs, in the succeeding days. Celerina Monte/DMS
