31 Filipinos evacuated from quake-hit area in Italy
A total of 31 Filipinos in Norcia were evacuated on Monday after being trapped due to the 6.6 magnitude quake that struck central Italy on Sunday.
Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Charles Jose said ?yictims were sent to Rome around ?2:15? am after the Philippine Embassy in Italy made arrangements with authorities.
The embassy provided board and lodging to the 31 Filipinos at the Casa Per Ferie Rogate in Rome .
The Filipinos were first brought to Perugia which is as an evacuation center for disaster victims from Norcia around 11 pm Sunday.
They are asking for help in terms of shelter and new jobs in Rome .
In a UK-based website, Consul General Bernie Candolada was quoted saying the Philippine government has approved all requests for assistance. The Filipino community in Rome is providing basic necessities to the victims. Ella Dionisio/DMS
