Police arrest mayor in anti-drug operation
Police on Saturday arrested a municipal mayor in North Cotabato in an anti-drug operation where they also recovered high-powered firearms and ammunition.
Libungan town Mayor Christopher Cuan is suspected to be violating
provisions of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Armed with 20 search warrants, regional police spokesman Superintendent Romeo Galgo said operatives from the police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency raided Cuan's house in in Barangay Cabaruyan around 3 am.
Cuan was in his house when the raid was carried out.
Galgo, in his report, said firearms and bullets were recovered at Cuan's home.
The seized items are 164 rounds of caliber 40 ammunition, 85 rounds for a caliber 45 ammunition, One piece steel magazine of caliber 45, 70 rounds for caliber
5.56 steel magazine live ammunition, three Caliber 5.56 steel magazines, two caliber 45 pistol, one caliber 45 steel magazine containing eight live ammunition, 244 caliber 45 empty cartridges, 40 caliber 9 millimeter empty cartridges, one 12 gauge shotgun, four
rounds for 12 gauge shotgun and one steel magazine of carbine rifle containing 13 ammunition.
No drugs were recovered from Cuan's house, according to Galgo.
